Cherie Koh / Kitterieko
Cherie is from sunny island Singapore, and has lived in Bangkok and Seoul. She moved to New York in 2016, and currently resides in Brooklyn. She was a forex broker by trade, but would rather make things with her hands. Before moving to New York, one can find her in metalsmithing classes and drawing clubs in Bangkok on the weekends, and in the yarn corner of a department store making textile art after work. She found a passion in making gemstone jewelry using the traditional pearl-knotting technique, and Kitterieko was born. She loves wearing her own designs. Putting on the cold stones in the morning and taking them off in the evening is a ritual for her. Feeling the warmth of her body in the stones at the end of the day grounds her. It reminds her to slow down and take a moment to appreciate the simple things in life.
She often reminisces of her younger, idyllic days of endless summer (it never gets cold there. Singapore is only one degree north of the equator). Kitterieko is inspired by those memories and distant travels. By using natural materials such as gemstones, pearls, and silk, each piece is unique and one of a kind.
