Beginner Ceramics
Jesse Hamerman started Beginner Ceramics in March of 2021 after joining a local ceramics studio and immediately fell in love with the process. Having worked with clay in college, it was a return to the medium after 21 years, and more importantly felt like a return to his true self.
For the past 22 years, he’s collaborated professionally with many artists to produce large-scale, logistically complicated sculptures using different methods and materials (metal, wood, foam, concrete, water, flowers, airplanes!). After rediscovering clay, he decided to focus all his material knowledge and creative energy into it, and in June of 2022 left his job to pursue Beginner Ceramics full-time.
Exploring form with the mind of a beginner and creating with joy is the goal with every object. Each piece is exuberantly and meticulously made by Jesse's hand in Brooklyn, New York.
